Artist Bio
Angela Mezzatesta is an emerging artist living and working in Naarm-Melbourne. Her practice focuses on themes related to ecology and human interconnectedness. She holds an intimate, intuitive, and reciprocal engagement with her materials and the natural world. Guided by the materiality of her mediums, Angela creates bodies of work that are reminiscent of geographical landforms and terrains. Her curiosity and fascination with strata formations, surface textures and patinas, from the natural world are what inform her practice.
Angela graduated in 2023 from RMIT with a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) with Distinction. She has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions and competitions. Winner of the Chapman and Bailey Painting Award and second place for the Fortyfivedownstairs Emerging Artists Award in 2023, Angela continues to develop her art practice, investigating themes related to ecology and phenomenology with experimental processes that explore the use of materiality.
